How to make your knotless braids last longer

Knotless braids are one of the most popular protective styles at our salon in Gulu โ€” and with the right care, a fresh set can look neat for four to six weeks. Here is exactly how we tell our clients to look after them.

1. Sleep with a satin scarf or bonnet

Cotton pillowcases pull moisture from your hair and cause frizz. A satin or silk scarf keeps your edges smooth and your braids tidy while you sleep.

2. Moisturise your scalp, not the braids

Use a light oil or braid spray on your scalp two or three times a week. Avoid heavy products on the braids themselves, which build up and dull the style.

3. Wash gently, every two weeks

Dilute shampoo with water, apply to the scalp, and rinse without rough scrubbing. Let braids dry fully to avoid a mildew smell.

4. Keep your edges and refresh as needed

After a few weeks, a quick re-do of the front rows refreshes the whole look. Come in and we will neaten them for you.
